The Indraprastha Institute of
Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi marked a milestone on October 31 as it
hosted its 14th Convocation, honouring 780 graduates poised to step into the
world of technology, innovation, and leadership.
The graduating class included 517 B Tech students, 226 M.Tech graduates — among them three dual-degree holders — and 34 Ph.D. scholars.
The convocation celebrated both academic excellence and the
spirit of purpose-driven innovation that has defined IIIT Delhi’s journey since
inception.
Among the toppers, B.Tech. students Arnav
Agarwal and Nalish Jain were awarded the Chancellor’s Gold Medal,
while Puneet Kumar, an M Tech student, received the Gold Medal for
Excellent Academic Performance.
Presiding over the ceremony, Lieutenant
Governor of Delhi and Chancellor Vinai Kumar Saxena extended his
congratulations to the graduating students, commending the educators, mentors,
and families who supported them through their academic journey.
Delivering the convocation address, Dr.
Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairman of Persistent Systems, lauded the
institute’s role in nurturing talent that will redefine India’s technological
landscape. “IIIT Delhi’s well-trained and enthusiastic graduates will play a
vital role in reshaping technology and engineering as India advances toward a
self-reliant and developed nation,” he said, invoking the vision of Swavalambi
and Vikasit Bharat.
Prof. Ranjan Bose, Director of IIIT Delhi, urged students to embrace
curiosity, courage, and compassion as they embark on their professional paths.
“Treat challenges as opportunities — to think differently, learn from mistakes,
and realize your true potential,” he said. “Be the leader, the innovator, and
the change-maker, but always lean on kindness and empathy.”
Reflecting on the institute’s
evolution, Prof. Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman of the Board of Governors,
highlighted IIIT Delhi’s growing influence in interdisciplinary research,
entrepreneurship, and global collaborations. “Our graduates not only carry
knowledge but also the responsibility to make technology more humane and
impactful,” he said. “Their work will continue to strengthen India’s standing
in education, innovation, and social impact.”
As the 14th batch of IIIT Delhi graduates walked across the stage, the ceremony stood as a powerful reminder — that the next era of India’s technological transformation will be shaped not only by intellect, but also by integrity and imagination.
