Victoria University (VU) has officially broken new ground by establishing its inaugural India campus in Gurugram, Haryana — marking a historic first for an international university under India’s National Education Policy (NEP).

This bold move positions VU as a trailblazer among Australian universities, being one of the first granted a licence to operate on Indian soil.

Slated to open by mid-2026, the Delhi NCR campus will introduce undergraduate and postgraduate programs across business, information technology, and research disciplines.

Drawing inspiration from VU’s cutting-edge City Tower Campus in Melbourne, the new campus promises to deliver Australia’s acclaimed Block Model teaching approach directly to Indian students—offering an affordable alternative to the costly overseas education journey.

The foundation ceremony was a landmark event featuring dignitaries such as Australia’s Federal Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs, Hon Julian Hill, VU Chancellor Hon Steve Bracks, Vice-Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker, alongside senior officials from both nations.

Hon Hill highlighted VU’s leadership in innovative teaching methods and the transformative impact the Gurugram campus will have on Indian learners.

Chancellor Steve Bracks emphasized the campus’s mission to democratize global education: “High costs and limited options have long barred many Indian students from accessing international degrees.

Our Gurugram campus and the VU Block Model will change that—offering inclusive, industry-linked programs designed for future success.”

With this bold step, Victoria University is not just planting roots in India—it is reshaping the future of cross-border education, breaking barriers, and opening new horizons for aspiring students eager to engage with world-class learning at home.
