The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened Round 2 of the NEET PG 2025 counselling process, significantly expanding opportunities for medical aspirants by adding 2,620 new seats to the matrix.

The latest update brings the total number of seats available to 32,080, including 17,623 clear vacancies, 11,837 virtual vacancies, and the newly added positions.

Virtual vacancies refer to seats currently occupied by candidates allotted in Round 1 who may opt to upgrade in later rounds. The increase in capacity is expected to offer a stronger chance of placement under the All India Quota (AIQ), particularly in high-demand clinical specialties.

Choice filling is now live on the official MCC portal and will remain open until 11:55 pm on December 9. The choice-locking window will operate between 4 pm and 11:55 pm the same day. Candidates who do not lock their choices will have their last saved preferences auto-locked by the system.

Round 2 is open to candidates who were not allotted seats previously, as well as those applying fresh under AIQ. Meanwhile, the 26,889 candidates who received seats in Round 1 are required to report to their allotted colleges for document verification before entering the next phase.

Courses such as MD Radiodiagnosis, MD General Medicine, and MD Obstetrics and Gynaecology emerged as the most competitive in the first round.

The Round 2 seat allotment results are scheduled for release on December 12. With additional capacity now available, this phase offers a renewed opportunity for candidates aiming to secure clinical or non-clinical postgraduate seats across India.
